Jermaine caught up in the racism of the Celebrity Big Brother

Well there's been a whole lot of headlines on the evening news channels, our Prime Minster Tony Blair and the Indian Prime Minister have both commented on the programme and some Indians in Indian have taken to the streets to demonstrate against percieved racism.

Jermaine was the first to spot the racism against Shipa Shetty. Actually going back to the start of the programme I was quite surprised when Jermaine said he was glad when he saw Shilpa Shetty enter the house because it was another non white person. Even a star as big as Jermaine still felt consious of his being because of his colour. I won't go into possible reasons for him thinking this.

Jermaine hit upon the fact that Shilpa was being victimised by Jade for an action of voting a contestant out, even though a fellow white friend of hers, Jo from S Club 7 had also voted in the same way as Shilpa.

Jermaine had previosly put the issues down to being differences of class.

Is there racism in the house? Jermaine definetly put the issues down to colour. Ian, (H from Steps) had recognised there was bulying going on. So is it bullying or racism?

Channel 4 say its not racism. However I believe when you look down at another race and comment on why they are all skinny, that they eat with there hands, they don't cook or eat properly, use body language to let the person know they are not liked or welcomed in a group, its racism. This and more has gone on in the house.

Channel 4 may not choose to think its racism because no one has walked up to Shilpa Shetty and called her a racist name, but theres alot more to racism than that!

Anyway, somehow Shipa Shetty has managed to carry on with the show and no doubt has been helped by Jermaine who has constantlly there to reassure her she is not the one who has the problem and she is fine as she is.

Anyway I certainly made a complaint to OFCOM, and today I heard there's been over 15,000 complaints.

January 17th 9pm Showing of Celebrity BB
Now this was pure distasteful. Shipla certainly questioned in tonights airing of the show whether she was the victim of racism. At one point Jermaine put it down not to being racist but a difference of class, something he has said before.

I questioned tonight why Jermaine and Shilpa even stay in the house.

Anyway with regards to the reason I continue to watch it and blog it (for any insights into Michael and his family) Jermaine did mention his family upbringing, that although strict it has certainly helped him in good stead throughout his life.
